Hi all, I had an app. at my rheumy hospital yesterday, for my routine infusion, the only place I get to have a real chat with other R.A. sufferers face to face. I attend the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt orthopaedic hospital Oswestry shropshire, an excellent place. I travel just over 30 miles to get there from my home in mid Wales Powys. I know it has a large catchment area, but did not realise until yesterday just how big. There was a lady there who travels all the way from near Haverfordwest Pembrokeshire which must be 150 miles or maybe more! She travels by train and is just starting on the same treatment which involves monthly infusions at the hospital. It made me realise how lucky I am and what distances some people have to travel on a regular basis! I absolutely love Pembrokeshire with its rugged coastline and regularly holiday there, but what a journey.

Just wondering how far other people have to travel for app. and if any of you attend the same hospital as me. I believe that it is also linked with Telford Hospital Shropshire which some of you go to.

Hi Zena

I am extremely fortunate as my hospital is barely fifteen minutes away, I know that I am lucky. It takes longer to park the car, as it is a very busy hospital and there is always a queue to to get your ticket from the barrier.

It would be handy if you could share the journey as it is a round trip of an hour driving, have to put your feelers out Smile

Hi Zena,

I travel about 15 miles to my hospital. The local one is just 3 miles up the road, but for various reasons I made the decision, along with my GP, to travel to Newcastle, to the Freeman Hospital. It`s not a difficult journey, though obviously a lot longer. I have subsequently found that people travel there from all over. Some come from Cumbria, across the Pennines, so it will be a day-trip for those people!

Hi Zena

I travel about 18 miles but it's my choice as I was very unhappy with the local hospital. Bolton is a wonderful place to be and I consider myself very fortunate to have been accepted as a patient there.

Love Jeanxxxx
